Darién Castro is an up-and-coming vocalist, songwriter, and performer based in the New England area. Her songs are self-reflective snapshots that capture elements of indie pop and alt-R&B, while also drawing inspiration from poetry and literature, and empowering listeners to find self-acceptance and perseverance. Following the release of her debut single, Succumb, Sean Haney of Seacoast Entertainer exclaimed, “Rising singer/songwriter Darién Castro is someone you should all be aware of. Darién Castro is an up-and-coming vocalist, songwriter, and performer from the New England area.
At a young age, she began her performance career at local theater companies in Portsmouth, NH before transitioning into writing her own music. Her songs are self-reflective snapshots that blend elements of indie-pop, folk, and soul. She also draws inspiration from poetry, literature, and important topics such as mental health and self-acceptance.
Over the past few years, Darién has become a rising performer around the New England and Boston music scene, having performed at notable venues such as Midway Cafe, The Burren, The Cantab Lounge, Hard Rock Cafe, and The Stone Church Music Club. Through shows at local clubs, She has shared the stage with notable acts such as Cassidy Deadwater, Kong Moon and Fully Celebrated Orchestra. She has also been featured in Nashville songwriter nights and showcases held by Boston’s Performers On the Go. Darién and her music have been featured on several media and press outlets, including Portsmouth Public Media, Seacoast Entertainer’s Seanversations, Exeter TV, Black Market Playlists, and the “Road Trip, Easy Listening” playlist on Spotify.
Darién also has experience working behind-the-scenes in the world of stage and video production, having worked with national touring acts such as Lee Brice and Styx at venues like Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom. Some of her film credits include background acting for the Kevin Hart film, Central Intelligence (2016) and camera operating for Seacoast Entertainer and BUTV10.
